Jewel Quest English: a vocabulary game that really teaches English

How the game teaches you

  • Easy words first

You start with the easiest words in English (level A1). Then you move to A2 and B1. In each level, the most common words come first.

  • Only 1 or 2 new words in a level

You never get too many new words at once. The other pieces are words you already know. So the new words are easy to remember.

  • See it, hear it, use it

Every word has a clear picture and a real voice. When you match a word, you hear it. Tap the speaker to hear it in a short sentence.

  • Old words come back

Words you learned before come back in later levels. You see them again and again, so you remember them for a long time, not just for today.

  • One topic at a time

Each part of the map has one topic, like food and drinks. Words on the same topic are easier to learn together.

  • Your own word book

Every word you find goes into your word book. Open it any time to see your words, hear them again and check your progress.

What do A1, A2, B1 and the other levels mean?

They are the CEFR levels. Schools and language tests all over the world use them to show how well someone knows English. There are six levels, from A1 (a beginner) to C2 (almost like a native speaker).

  • A1Beginner. You know your first words and very simple sentences.
  • A2Elementary. You can talk about everyday things in short, simple sentences.
  • B1Intermediate. You can talk about your life, your work and your plans.
  • B2Upper intermediate. You can understand most TV shows and talk easily with native speakers.
  • C1Advanced. You can use English well at work or at university.
  • C2Proficient. Your English is almost like a native speaker's.
