A free game for adult English learners. Practice what to say in a job interview, on a phone call about a job, when you ask your boss for a raise, at the doctor, with your landlord, at a clinic front desk, at the bank, at the pharmacy, at a hotel front desk, at a car rental counter, at the post office, at a restaurant, when you call in sick, when you call 911, when you buy a car at a dealership, when you meet your child's teacher, when you get a haircut and at your citizenship interview.

How to play

A person says a line, and you choose the best reply from 3 answers. One answer is clear and polite. The other two may sound OK, but they are too rude, too vague, too negative, or they don't answer the question. After each answer, you hear the best reply and get a short tip.

๐Ÿ“– Practice: you see the line and hear it. Take your time. Start here.

๐ŸŽง Live interview: for the job interview, when you are ready. You hear the interviewer, but you don't see the words. You have a few seconds to answer, and the "Would they hire you?" meter shows how you are doing.

Good answers in a row give you bonus points ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Get 3 of 5 right to win the level and earn stars.

Each level has 8 lines, and every game picks 5 of them, so you can play again and hear new lines.

Questions about Say It Right

Is Say It Right free?

Yes. Say It Right is free. You do not need to sign up, and it works on your phone and on your computer.

What level of English do I need?

Each situation has 3 levels. Level 1 is A2 (basic English), level 2 is B1 and level 3 is B2. Every level is open, so you can start where you like; level 1 is a good first step. New situations get their levels one at a time.

What is the Live interview?

In the Live interview you hear the interviewer's questions, but you do not see them, like in a real interview. You have a short time to pick your answer, and a meter shows if they would hire you.

How does this help my speaking?

You hear real lines from everyday situations and choose what to say back. After each answer you hear the best reply and get a short tip. Say the best reply out loud to practice speaking.

Can teachers use Say It Right in class?

Yes. It works well for ESL conversation classes and homework. Students can play alone, or the class can choose the answer together and talk about why the other replies are wrong.

This game teaches English. It is not career, health, money or legal advice.
