English Short Story 1: The Huge Pumpkin Who Wanted to Take Over the World

The sun was setting and the sky was ablaze with colors. The cool breeze was blowing and the leaves were rustling. It was a beautiful autumn day.

Suddenly, a giant pumpkin appeared out of nowhere. It was so big that it blocked out the sun. The pumpkin was grinning from ear to ear, and it had a wicked glint in its eye.

The pumpkin began to speak in a deep, booming voice. “I am the Great Pumpkin,” it said. “And I have come to take over the world!”

The people of the world were terrified. They didn’t know what to do.

But then, a small boy stepped forward. He was carrying a basket of apples.

“Here, take an apple,” he said to the pumpkin.

The pumpkin was so surprised that it stopped in its tracks. It had never been given an apple before.

The boy continued, “And if you want to take over the world, you’re going to have to do it with kindness. Not with meanness.”

The pumpkin thought about this for a moment. Then it slowly began to shrink until it was the same size as the boy.

“Thank you for showing me the way,” the pumpkin said.

And from that day forward, the pumpkin ruled the world with kindness.

English Short Story 1: The Girl Who Loved Adverbs

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who loved to use adverbs. She would always say things like, “I ran quickly,” or “I ate slowly.” One day, she decided to use an adverb in every sentence she said.

“I woke up early this morning,” she said to her mom.

“I made my bed quickly,” she said to her dad.

“I brushed my teeth slowly,” she said to her brother.

Soon, everyone in the family was using adverbs all the time. Even the dog started to bark loudly and the cat meowed softly. It was a fun way to speak and everyone enjoyed it immensely.

But then, one day the girl decided to stop using adverbs forever. The reason why is still a mystery. Some say she just got tired of them, while others claim she wanted to challenge herself and only use adjectives. Whatever the reason, she went back to her old way of speaking and everyone in the family followed suit.

It was a sad day for adverbs, but they still managed to find their way into an occasional sentence.
